May B&G Webinar Series

Sensored or Sensorless Pump Control – Which is Best for Your System? Part II

Date: Monday, May 4, 2020 2-3 p.m. ET

Join Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand, to learn about the two methods of efficient variable speed pump control most commonly used in today’s commercial building systems, including how they work, how they differ, the proper system design and piping layout recommended for each, and integration guidance with the building management system.

During the second session of this two-part webinar series, Michael Licastro will provide attendees instruction on how sensorless variable speed control works, pump selection criteria, the effects of Branch to Riser pressure drop ratio on pump speed control, and a final summary on how to choose the best control strategy for a system.

System Efficiency and the Importance of System Balancing

Date: Monday, May 11, 2020 2–3 p.m. EST

Join Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand, to learn about system efficiency and the importance of system balancing. In this webinar, Chris Kerback of Xylem will discuss why balance is important to a well-designed and commissioned HVAC system.

During the one-hour webinar, Xylem will:

  • Discuss where balance and flow measurement is needed in closed and open hydronic systems
  • Review the negative impacts of an unbalanced system
  • Explore self-balancing techniques that can be utilized via system design
  • Compare and contrast different balance valve technologies and the pros & cons associated with each

Zoning Made Easy – Part 1: Five Rules of Thumb for the Non-Engineer

Date: Thursday, May 21, 2020 2-3 p.m. ET

Most residential and light commercial zoning jobs don’t require an engineering degree. You just need to have a good basic grasp of what’s going on in the system.

Join Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand, to learn basic “Rules of Thumb” that will take the guesswork out of simple zoning applications. Using these “Rules of Thumb,” the non-engineer can easily determine the required pipe sizes, pumps and baseboard without relying on complicated calculations. These simple tricks of the trade will help you figure out your next zoning job in no time at all.

Attendees of Part 1 of this two-part webinar will learn five “Rules of Thumb” that will allow them to quickly determine the systems required flow rate, how to size pipe based on maximum flows and how to understand heat carrying capacity of pipes. Examples on how to apply these rules will be provided.

Modern Pump Selection

Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2020 10–11 a.m. ET

In response to industry demand for the most efficient pump selection, Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand developed a pump selection criteria called Part Load Efficiency Value (PLEV) to assist in selecting pumps that maximize efficiencies while reducing energy costs.

PLEV is a calculation that represents the efficiency of a centrifugal pump at partial flow rates and can be used to gauge true pump performance within a hydronic system.

In this webinar, Kyle DelPiano of Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand will explain how PLEV works, how to use the calculation based on application and the benefits it provides.

Zoning Made Easy – Part 2: More Rules of Thumb for the Non-Engineer

Date: Thursday, May 28, 2020 2-3 p.m.

Attendees of Part 2 of this two-part webinar will learn four “Rules of Thumb” that will allow them to quickly select the correct pipe size for shared flow, understand pump head and select a circulator for a simple system. Examples on how to apply these rules will be provided.
