The R. L. Deppmann Monday Morning Minutes blog is entering its fifteenth year of offering tips and training to plumbing and hydronic professionals. To celebrate the 15th year of publication we are providing several short series which represent the content of R. L. Deppmann training seminars. These blogs will help the newer employees of engineers, contractors, wholesalers, and owners in their understanding of hydronic and plumbing pumps and trim. There will also be advanced topics included for the more experienced reader.
2024: Centrifugal Pumps for Engineers, Contractors, Wholesalers and Distributors
Pumps are present is almost every larger commercial and institutional building. The engineer is responsible for the proper application, selection, and specification of centrifugal pumps. The Monday Morning Minutes 2024 series will include some basic and more advanced pumping topics. The series will include constant speed and variable speed pump selection, the effect of changing system curves on pump choices, pump readout and basic troubleshooting, and parallel/series pumping systems. There will also be advanced topics such as NPSH and when to be concerned. The reader should complete the series with an understanding of the nuances of pumps and avoiding system issues due to pump selection.
2024: Centrifugal Pump Piping and Piping Components
When do I need this and when do I need that? Is it OK to match pump size or line size with an item near the pump? What options do we have to use as an alternative to the normal detailed pump trim? How can I troubleshoot pumping issues? These are basic questions that come up often. The Centrifugal Pump Piping and Trim series will help answer all these common questions.
2024: Expansion Tanks, Air, and Dirt control
Expansion tanks are key to the proper operation of closed hydronic systems. The blog series will walk the reader through the proper sizing, piping, and troubleshooting of expansion tanks.
Hydronic systems work best if the system fluid is free of air and particulate. Proper selection and location of the air and dirt separators is critical to proper operation. The blog will help in the selection and troubleshooting of these system components.
2024: What’s New in System Components?
This year, as we have in the past, we will include special Monday Morning Minutes to share changes and advancements in the hydronic and plumbing system components. This will help the reader make better decisions when offering solutions to building owners and system operators.
