Our recent R. L. Deppmann Monday Morning Minutes (MMM) articles have introduced a number of velocity considerations in gasketed plate heat exchangers. This week I’ll share two secrets: Why you want AHRI certification in your gasketed plate exchanger specifications and a new educational tool for you from our friends at the Bell and Gossett Little Red Schoolhouse.

AHRI Standard 400

AHRI stands for Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute. You’re probably familiar with AHRI testing and certification in chillers, towers, and air handling systems. The AHRI liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger (LLHE) certification based on AHRI standard 400 provides the peace of mind that the equipment you specify—and your client pays for—will do what you scheduled! Who wouldn’t want that?

Read how to specify this important benefit.

ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Standards and Free Cooling Opportunities

ASHRAE 90.1 section 6.5.1 provides standards on the use of plate heat exchangers as waterside economizers, which we often refer to as “free cooling heat exchangers.”

Bell & Gossett is providing an online seminar on free cooling economizers.

Bell & Gossett ESP-THERMAL Plate Heat Exchanger Program Is Available

Bell & Gossett is also providing an option on the sizing program to select a free cooling economizer with help. If you want to run your own selections, B&G makes the ESP-Thermal program available. R. L. Deppmann stands ready to select plate and frame heat exchangers for engineers and customers in Michigan and Northern Ohio.
