ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company’s financial records. This role leads key components of the monthly and annual close, inventory accounting, margin analysis, and financial reporting processes while partnering across the business to strengthen controls, improve processes, and support strategic financial priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Close & Reporting
- Lead and execute assigned monthly, quarterly, and year end close activities, with clear ownership of timelines, quality, and completion.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Analyze income statement and balance sheet activity and provide concise, decision-useful variance explanations.
- Own financial reporting, management reporting, and key performance indicator (KPI) preparation for assigned areas.
- Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts.
- Review inventory valuation, reserves, and obsolescence risk.
- Partner with operations and purchasing to resolve inventory issues and improve accounting accuracy.
- Accounts & Operational Accounting
- Review accounts receivable, accounts payable & cash application accounting activity.
- Ensure proper accounting for revenue recognition, freight, rebates, and vendor programs.
- Review fixed asset accounting, capitalization, and depreciation.
- Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance and filings.
- Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Prepare audit schedules and serve as a key audit liaison.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies.
- Support banking, insurance and lender reporting requirements.
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Thorough understanding of workflows within NetSuite and financial reporting tools.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting efficiencies.
- Support ERP enhancements, system integrations, and reporting improvements.
- Train, mentor, and support accounting team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5-8 Years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Advance Excel skills, ERP experience (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience with branch based or multi location operations.
- Exposure to rebates, vendor programs, and freight accounting
- Experience in distribution, wholesale, or inventory intensive environments
